they’ll be used to power the sustainable sound system for firefly. it’s sean’s idea and work, but i helped. these are beta and should end up with nicer welded supports and weatherproof covers. (and maybe some self-powered EL wire)

his first few videos were interesting to a point, but this one actually has some meaning to me. it’s beautiful when everyone runs in to join him.
this was a “i thought this was real” dream. pete and i were driving to some event we were late for, and he wouldn’t slow down even as we started up the steep incline of the raised zakim bridge. (ya, i know it’s not a drawbridge, but it was this time.) i was saying, “whoa, stop.. hey, it’s up. stop stop stop! ahh!” we went over the lip very obviously without enough speed to make it to the other side. i was thinking, “no. .. yes, this is really happening.” we had time while falling to look at each other, roll up the windows and unbuckle ourselves. (they were good ideas in the dream.) i even decided my camera was too heavy to swim with, so i took out just the memory card instead. the impact was soft, and his little car floated. we opened the windows, paddled to the bank, high-fived, and started the car. it was fine.
fin.
i’m helping Sean Stevens build a “sustainable sound system” powered by bikes. we’re through the prototype stage, and it’s working very well.
do you have whole or partial bikes or parts we can use? (stationary excercise bikes could work too)
sean’s ‘need’ list:
* some bike chains (perhaps 8 or equivilent, multi speed style (not bmx))
* rear wheels with sprockets (6-8)
* multispeed bike frames with pedals/cranks/front sprockets
* Some bike shift cable stuff/shifters if possible
so far, and without much effort, we’re powering a huge subwoofer and stereo set through some DC motors, capacitors and car amplifiers. the next step is to add several bike stations that can withstand the woods and crazy burners in the woods. depending on how it works, we might scale this for a huge sustainable sound stage for burning man. sean plans to refine and release his schematics for public use.
i haven’t paid much attention to cats, but this one is cool. he definitely wants attention, but he’s pulling it off without seeming too needy.
between firefly and burning man, i’m heading somewhere up in northeastern europe with mischa, probably lithuania. i’m going over my vacation time. guess that means i just don’t get paid for the extra time. whatev. suck it!
….when i wake up and realize i actually can’t fly.
(and i was getting so good at it)

radiohead created a contest to remix their song “nude”. it’s 6/8 time, so standard 4/4 cookie cutters = fail.
this version is sexy. (give it a minute to get past the modem solo)
